Our mission is simple. We strive to provide support, both physically and spiritually, to the homeless, disadvantaged, and working poor of our community.
The Tioga County Open Door Mission is a faith based organization and is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization. The Mission and its second location, The Red Door, have provided housing, clothing, food and other financial assistance to the disadvantaged and needy families in Tioga County and surrounding areas since 1968. The Mission supports the shelter and all of its outreach programs through the proceeds from its two thrift stores, grants, and private donations.

Mary Sobol has been the director of the Mission since 2006. She is active in both locations and always greets everyone she meets with a smile. Although Mary is a fantastic director, many would say their favorite talent of hers is her delicious cooking! Mary makes lunch for the staff, volunteers and homeless residents everyday. No matter what happens Mary can always keep the staff laughing.
Donna Jantz has had a long relationship with the Mission. She has been involved with the organization for over 25 years. Most of the time you will find Donna in the parking lot on the fork lift before you will find her in the office--she is not afraid of getting a little dirty! Donna keeps the Mission going every day with her organization, hard work, passion and sense of humor.
